Your First Days at Aalborg University
Commencing your studies in a foreign country can seem a bit overwhelming. When studying at Aalborg University you can be confident in the knowledge that AAU will do its utmost to ensure that you get off to the best possible start.
The Buddy network at AAU
“The main purpose of the buddy network is to welcome new international students to Aalborg, help them out in the beginning and introduce them to all that Aalborg has to offer.
Basically, your very first friend in Aalborg is already waiting for you at the airport.”

Assistance from a Buddy at AAU
At AAU in Aalborg and Aalborg University Esbjerg you have the opportunity of being allocated a Buddy when commencing your studies. A Buddy is a Danish or an international student who is also enrolled at AAU and who has volunteered as your contact person during the first couple of weeks of your stay. If you have questions regarding your study programme, AAU’s study method, living in Aalborg or perhaps the Danish language, your Buddy is ready to offer you advice and guidance. You will also be offered a free course in Danish when your studies commence. You will receive a registration form for the Buddy network together with your letter of acceptance and will meet your Buddy a couple of days after your arrival. AAU-Cph is currently in the process of introducing the Buddy network too.
