Your First Days at Aalborg University

Commencing your studies at a university in a foreign country can seem a bit overwhelming. When studying at Aalborg University you can be confident in the knowledge that AAU will do its utmost to ensure that you get off to the best possible start.

Arrival Days

“I think it is very nice and helpful that on Arrival Days you’re provided with the most relevant information and directions by people either working or studying at the university. It really helps to reduce the stress of moving to a new place.”

Assistance from a Buddy at AAU

At AAU in Aalborg and Aalborg University Esbjerg you have the opportunity of being allocated a Buddy when commencing your studies. A Buddy is a Danish or an international student who is also enrolled at Aalborg University and who has volunteered as your contact person during the first couple of weeks of your stay in Aalborg. For instance, if you have questions regarding your study programme, AAU’s study method or living in Aalborg, your Buddy is ready to offer you helpful advice and guidance. Perhaps your Buddy can also help you with regard to the Danish language. You will also be offered a free course in Danish when your studies commence at AAU. You will receive a registration form for the Buddy network together with your letter of acceptance and will meet your Buddy a couple of days after your arrival. Aalborg University is currently in the process of introducing the Buddy network in Copenhagen too.
